Need a useful 3D scan without buying a scanner?

SwS Motorsports offers affordable automotive 3D scanning for builders, fabricators, designers, and small manufacturers.

Bring your part to our shop, ship it to us, or contact us about in-person scanning. We’ll provide a cleaned, properly scaled 3D mesh that can be used for CAD reference, clearance checking, packaging, prototyping, and custom part design.

Built Not Bought starts with knowing where everything actually is.

What You Receive

• Cleaned and aligned 3D mesh

This service provides 3D mesh files only. Parametric CAD models, manufacturing drawings, and complete reverse engineering are not included.

Pricing

Pricing is based on the smallest rectangular box the item can reasonably fit inside.

Standard return shipping within the continental United States is included. Final pricing may vary for unusually complex, fragile, reflective, or difficult-to-scan items.

Extra Small — Fits in an 8" × 8" × 8" Box

Private Scan: $169
Public Scan: $69

Ideal for brackets, pulleys, small adapters, sensors, and other compact components.

Small — Under 1.5 Cubic Feet

Private Scan: $249
Public Scan: $149

Ideal for throttle bodies, accessory brackets, small housings, and similar parts.

Medium — Under 3 Cubic Feet

Private Scan: $329
Public Scan: $229

Ideal for intake manifolds, supercharger housings, cylinder heads, and medium-sized assemblies.

Large — Under 6 Cubic Feet

Private Scan: $449
Public Scan: $319

Ideal for transmissions, large intake assemblies, body components, and other bulky parts.

Parts larger than 6 cubic feet require a custom quote.

Private or Public Scan?

Private Scan

Your completed scan is delivered directly to you and will not be intentionally added to the SwS Community Scan Library.

This option is best for confidential projects, commercial product development, or parts you do not want publicly distributed.

Public Scan

Public scans receive a $100 discount in exchange for allowing SwS Motorsports to add the finished scan to our public Community Scan Library.

The goal is to build a growing database of useful automotive geometry that helps builders create:

• Brackets and mounts
• Engine-swap components
• Intake and supercharger adapters
• Replacement parts
• Interior and body components
• Custom automotive projects

SwS Motorsports may retain, publish, distribute, modify, and use public scan files for community resources and future product development.

Flange and Bolt-Hole Measurement Add-On

First Basic Flat Flange — $19

Add usable reference measurements for one simple, flat mounting flange, including:

• Overall flange dimensions
• Bolt-hole locations
• Hole diameters
• Center-to-center spacing
• Basic flange orientation

Additional or Complex Flanges — Starting at $68.99 Each

The higher rate may apply to:

• Additional mounting surfaces
• Angled or offset flanges
• Recessed or raised features
• Multiple bolt patterns
• Irregular flange shapes
• Features requiring additional setup or manual verification

These measurements are intended for CAD reference, design, and prototyping. Critical dimensions should still be independently verified before final manufacturing.

In-Person Scanning

Private Scan: $169 per hour
Public Scan: $50 per hour

In-person scanning is available for vehicles, large assemblies, installed components, and items that cannot be shipped easily.

Travel expenses may apply for scanning performed away from the SwS Motorsports shop.

How It Works

1. Send Us the Details

Send us photos, approximate dimensions, and a description of the part or area you need scanned.

Let us know which surfaces, mounting points, or features are most important.

2. Choose Private or Public

Keep the scan private at the standard rate, or receive discounted pricing by allowing us to add it to the public scan library.

3. Provide the Part

You can bring the part to our shop, ship it to SwS Motorsports, or request in-person scanning.

Do not ship anything before receiving approval and shipping instructions.

4. Receive Your Scan

Once scanning and processing are complete, your mesh files will be delivered digitally.

Standard return shipping within the continental United States is included in the listed price.

Shipping Information

Customers are responsible for shipping the item to SwS Motorsports, inbound insurance, and proper packaging.

Standard return shipping within the continental United States is included.

Additional charges may apply for:

• Freight shipments
• Oversized or unusually heavy items
• Expedited return shipping
• Special packaging
• Locations outside the continental United States

All parts must be reasonably clean and free of fuel, oil, coolant, loose debris, and hazardous materials.

Important Scan Information

These scans are intended for:

• CAD reference
• Fitment and clearance checking
• Packaging studies
• Prototyping
• Custom component design

They are not certified inspection data or a guarantee of final part fitment.

Scan quality depends on the size, complexity, surface condition, visibility, and accessibility of the item. Deep internal passages, hidden areas, highly reflective surfaces, transparent materials, and obstructed geometry may not be captured completely.

Critical dimensions, sealing surfaces, bearing locations, threaded features, and safety-related geometry should always be independently verified before manufacturing.
